Vol. 248 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Caretaker Rent Payments.

53.

asked the Minister for Local Government if persons who are paying rent on a caretaker basis to Dublin Corporation pending obtaining loans from building societies for tenant purchase houses will lose by this arrangement, as published statements would suggest.

I understand that the corporation have permitted persons to whom purchase houses have been allocated to occupy the houses under caretakers agreements pending the issue of their loans by building societies, in return for payment, by the purchasers, of amounts necessary to cover loan and other charges which have to be met by the corporation in respect of the houses. This facility is made available by arrangement between the corporation and the purchasers and I am not aware whether individual purchasers availing of it will lose by it.
