Vol. 248 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Animal Health Committees.

48.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will consider the setting up of animal health committees in each county in view of the urgency of having cattle and sheep disease-free.

Animal health committees have, in fact, been in existence in a number of counties, including County Cork, for some years past. These were originally set up at the suggestion of my Department.

Also at my Department's suggestion, a number of county councils have established committees to deal specifically with the sheep dipping programme.

I shall look into the possibility of more animal health committees being set up.
