Vol. 248 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Telephone Exchange.

80.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will ensure that the erection of a telephone exchange at Beggar's Bush barracks, Dublin, will not result in any infringements on the living conditions of the tenants there.

Permission to erect the telephone exchange building was obtained from Dublin Corporation as landlord and planning authority after considerable alterations had been made in the original plans to meet their requirements. It is assumed, therefore, that reasonable objection on the ground mentioned will not arise.

May I ask the Minister to ensure that, despite the planning permission which has been given, the exchange will not be built in such a way that it will deprive the tenants of light, because this is likely to happen under the present plans?

I have not seen the plans but certainly as a result of what the Deputy says I will have them examined and if we can help in any way we will certainly do so.
