asked the Minister for External Affairs whether he has made representations to the French Government concerning the recent explosion at the Irish Embassy in Paris; whether he has requested the French Government to improve the security arrangements for the protection of embassy personnel and property; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The French Foreign Office have expressed regrets and sympathy to the Irish Embassy on behalf of the French Government concerning the explosion at the embassy on Sunday, 5th July. The French authorities have, following on this unexpected incident, placed two policemen on guard outside the embassy day and night to improve security arrangements.
