Vol. 248 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish-German Tourist Trade.

3.

asked the Taoiseach whether the balance between money spent by German tourists in this country last year and money spent by Irish tourists in Germany is more favourable to the balance of payments than the four to one imbalance in trade.

Particulars of the amounts spent by German tourists in this country and by Irish tourists in Germany are not available.

Particulars may not be available in accordance with the arithmetical calculations of the macro-economists, so-called, attached to the Government, but people can make a good shot at this sort of thing if they want to and I am not particular about .5 per cent, or something like that——

I take it the Deputy has a question?

The Deputy will have to translate it for the people opposite who have been laughing.

I will ask a question. Can the Parliamentary Secretary not do better than that?

Of course, I have just done much better than the Deputy expected me to do.

I suppose nought is better than minus 10 per cent.
