Vol. 248 No. 9

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Rates Rebate.

70.

andMr. Bruton asked the Minister for Local Government if he will increase the agricultural rates rebate to £50; and if he will extend it to female labour.

The introduction of legislation to provide for such changes is not contemplated.

Would the Minister not agree that in view of the length of time that has elapsed since the present allowance was introduced and in view of the rising rates during the past few years, the time is long overdue for an increase and would he not now consider increasing the allowance to £50? Further, would he not agree to include female labour since such inclusion would only involve a very small amount?

No such changes are contemplated.
