Six industrial sectors have been designated under the Act. These are textiles, engineering, clothing and footwear, printing and paper products, construction, and food, drink and tobacco. The total employment in these sectors is approximately 275,000.
It is expected that the chemical and allied products sector of industry will be designated by the end of 1970. All manufacturing industry will then have been designated.
