Vol. 248 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Twelfth Round Wage Increases.

33.

asked the Minister for Labour the highest percentage and actual increase in wages in the twelfth round; the lowest in each case; and the average in each case.

What is known as the twelfth round of pay increases is still in progress.

These increases have been, and are being, negotiated within our system of free collective bargaining and the parties are not required to notify me of claims or settlements.

I am aware that a number of the settlements which have been made are of a complex character involving varying amounts of money related to varying periods, and at times affecting incremental pay scales.

At the moment, therefore, the situation cannot accurately be presented in the terms asked for by the Deputy.
