Vol. 249 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Discussions with UN Secretary.

9.

asked the Taoiseach if he had discussions with the United Nations Secretary General, U Thant, while at the UN on the matters raised by the Minister for External Affairs at the special meeting of the Security Council in August last in relation to the maintenance of peace in the Six-County area.

I had a private discussion with the United Nations Secretary General, U Thant, which touched on peace, justice and progress, being the theme of the special commemorative session of the General Assembly. I related this theme to the situation in the North as I also did in my speech to the General Assembly.
