Vol. 249 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Coastal Protection.

112.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the urgent necessity to commence coastal protection work at Moville, County Donegal; if he will explain the long delay in having this matter attended to in view of the fact that the scheme is ready for commencement; and if he will make a comprehensive statement.

I am aware of the necessity for coastal protection works at Moville. The scheme is not in fact ready for commencement. The county council's statutory declaration under section 10 (3) of the Act "that the scheme is to be proceeded with" was received recently and the scheme will now be submitted by the Commissioners of Public Works to the Minister for Finance for confirmation under section 10 (5) of the Act. As the Deputy was informed in my letter of 28 July last, it is hoped that the work will be commenced next year.
