Vol. 249 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fishing in Territorial Waters.

14.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries in what circumstances, if any, he issues a licence to fish commercially in Irish territorial waters to foreign owned trawlers.

It is not the practice to grant licences to foreign owned trawlers to fish commercially within the exclusive fishery limits of the State.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that there is an application from a foreign owned trawler to fish in Irish territorial waters and that this attempt is being made at Dunmore East, County Waterford?

I am not so aware.
