Vol. 249 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Reserve Service.

89.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will consider the position of NCOs and men on the Army reserve who have been called up for service; and if he will consider favourably granting them a gratuity for such service.

I have considered the position and regret that the payment of a gratuity to members of the first line reserve, without exception, in respect of service arising out of the call-up in August, 1969, would not be warranted.

I will, however, be prepared to consider exceptionally any case in which it can be shown that such service has resulted in loss of pay or earnings.
