Vol. 249 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Oireachtas Vote Investigation.

49.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will inform the House of the progress to date of the Garda investigation initiated by him into the Vote of the Oireachtas of £100,000 for relief in Northern Ireland.

As has already been stated by the Taoiseach, Garda inquiries were hampered by the bank closure and, while a good deal of information was obtained, the inquiries could not be brought to a conclusion. The inquiries are now proceeding again but the Garda do not expect to be able to submit a final report to the law officers for, at least, several weeks.
