Vol. 249 No. 11

Ceisteanna — Questions Oral Answers. - Irish Tourist Industry.

14.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will now make a statement outlining Government policy in respect of future accommodation needs of the Irish tourist industry.

A consultancy firm commissioned jointly by Bord Fáilte and Aer Lingus in association with the Irish Hotels Federation are at present carrying out a detailed study of our holiday accommodation requirements up to 1985. When this study has been completed, accommodation policy will be fully reviewed to take account of the study's findings and any necessary changes in policy will be implemented. In the meantime, Bord Fáilte are not as a general rule entering into new accommodation grant commitments.
