Vol. 249 No. 11

Written Answers. - Council of Europe Recommendation.

91.

Mr. McCluskey

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether the Government can accept Recommendation No. 593 on the situation of young workers which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 26th January, 1970; and whether they will meet the requests contained in paragraph 5 of this recommendation.

As I stated in my reply to a similar question by the Deputy on the 8th April, 1970, the Government regard the general tenor of the recommendation as progressive and unexceptionable. The extent to which its detailed proposals can be adopted in this country at the present time is being fully examined by the Departments concerned.
