All sanitary authorities have been requested by my Department to exercise their powers to take protective measures in respect of dangerous places, which would include dangerous mine shafts and ponds, in their districts. It is, however, a matter for the sanitary authority concerned to decide what action, if any, should be taken in particular cases.
