Vol. 250 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widows' Pension.

15.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why the non-contributory widows' pension was not restored to a person (name supplied) who applied for the pension on 2nd March, 1970, on her return from England despite repeated representations made to his Department.

The delay in restoring pension in this case was due to a most unusual and unfortunate series of errors which resulted in the relevant papers being twice mislaid, the second time being subsequent to receipt of the Deputy's representations in the matter. The pension has now been restored with retrospective effect as from the 6th March, 1970. The delay which occurred in the handling of this application is regretted.
