Vol. 250 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport Workers Pensions Scheme.

12.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if it is his intention as already indicated to the National Association of Transport Employees that he will have brought about the merger of CDR with CIE by 1st January, 1971; and if he is aware that any further delay in doing so will result in some members not being eligible to join the CIE regular wages staff pension scheme because they will be over the age for admission to the fund.

I intend to introduce a Bill immediately after the Christmas Recess providing, inter alia, for the transfer of the undertaking of the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee to CIE. The maximum age limit for entry to the CIE regular wages staff pension scheme is 50 years. The earliest date on which any of the joint committee's wages grade employees concerned who are at present within this limit will reach the age of 50 years is July, 1971—so it will be covered.

Thank you.
