asked the Taoiseach the relevant sections of the European Human Rights Convention which prohibit internment without trial.

Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights sets out the circumstances in which a person may be arrested and detained.

Is the Taoiseach still satisfied that a situation exists in this country which warrants——

That does not arise on the question, which is a very specific one dealing with relevant sections of a Convention. The matter cannot be pursued.

If I may specifically put it to the Taoiseach, is he satisfied that there still exists a situation which warrants——

That does not arise, Deputy. I understand Deputies will get an opportunity to debate this matter. The Deputy's question does not lend itself to any such supplementary.

Perhaps the Chair will hear the question first and then decide whether or not it is relevant.

I have heard the question. The Deputy may not argue the matter with the Chair. The Deputy will get an opportunity to refer to these matters in a subsequent debate.
