Vol. 250 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Housing.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of houses planned for the Tallaght area by Dublin Corporation, Dublin County Council and private developers.

Dublin Corporation have work in progress on 704 dwellings in the Tallaght area and 342 "package deal" houses have been completed recently by them there, 100 of which were made available to Dublin County Council. Dublin County Council have schemes comprising about 860 dwellings at Balrothery and at Limekiln Farm at the planning stage and have sites for about 350 further houses in the area.

There is no information in my Department as to the number of houses planned by private developers for this area.

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of that reply, I propose to raise the matter on the Adjournment.

The Deputy has already given notice on another question. Is the Deputy withdrawing his notice on the previous question?

No. I am raising both.

Why should he withdraw it? He is entitled to raise both.

In relation to the impressive development in the Tallaght area, would the Minister ensure that the amenities in the area are developed as far as possible alongside the housing development——

Including the swimming pool.

——including the swimming pool?

You stopped Inchicore getting the £2½ million contract.

Development in the area must be formulated by Dublin Corporation or the county council. I think the Deputy has another question down which will elaborate further on this. Any proposals which come before the Department from the Tallaght area will be favourably considered.
