Vol. 250 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - House Purchase Scheme.

213.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the concern and dissatisfaction felt by tenants of Dublin County Council at Patrician Villas, Stillorgan, County Dublin, who are anxious to purchase their houses under the Labourers Acts, because of the fact that the houses in this scheme were completed at different dates; and if he will arrange to have the purchase scheme applied to all houses in the scheme irrespective of the date of completion.

No proposals from Dublin County Council are before my Department about the sale of houses in their estate. Section 94 of the Housing Act, 1966, provides that county councils must prepare and submit to the Minister before 31st December, 1967, purchase schemes under the Labourers Act, 1936, for all unvested cottages provided by them before 1st January, 1966, and not already in purchase schemes. If a county council decides to sell cottages provided by them after 1st January, 1966, they must make a purchase scheme for them under section 90 of the Housing Act, 1966.

I understand that some of the houses at Patrician Villas were provided by the local authority after 1st January, 1966.

I also understand that the council are considering the making of a sale scheme for these houses under the Housing Act, 1966.
