Vol. 251 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forensic Psychiatry Posts.

36.

asked the Minister for Health whether the post of Director of Forensic Psychiatry is to be or has been readvertised; why the successful applicant did not take up the appointment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I informed the Deputy in reply to previous similar questions, the candidate recommended by the Local Appointments Commissioners did not accept this appointment. I am not aware of his reasons for not accepting it.

The Dublin Health Authority have requested the commissioners to make a fresh recommendation of a person for appointment to the office. The vacancy has not been readvertised. The question of readvertisement will not arise unless the commissioners find themselves unable to make a fresh recommendation as a result of the competition already held.
