Vol. 251 No. 1

Written Answers. - Correspondence References.

254.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that many government offices including the Estate Duty Office continue to fail to quote addressees' references in correspondence; and if he will issue a new directive to all civil servants requiring them to quote such references in the same manner as the civil service requires the public to quote civil service references in letters addressed to government offices.

I am not aware of failure by Departments to quote references on incoming correspondence where these are identifiable as intended for quotation. If, however, the Deputy will furnish me with particulars of any instances in which the references have not been inserted, I will have the matter examined and any necessary action taken.
