Vol. 251 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Incorporation of Company.

149.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether a protest has been made to the British authorities about the incorporation in England of a limited company (details supplied) with a title which leads people to believe that it is an Irish company; if so, if he will give information on the matter; if steps will be taken to prevent similar incorporations in future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The company mentioned by the Deputy has been carrying on business in this country, as well as in Britain, for many years and I am satisfied that there are no circumstances which would call for an approach to the British authorities about the name of the company.

I have no information to suggest that company names of this kind are misleading or are intended to mislead and I see no grounds for taking any action in the matter.
