Vol. 251 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Drainage.

20.

asked the Minister for Finance when the Office of Public Works will complete the drainage of the river Flesk and its tributaries, County Kerry, which flows through the Currow and Scartaglen areas, as part of the completion of the main drainage scheme.

The Brown Flesk had to be omitted from the arterial drainage scheme for the Maine catchment, which was completed in 1963 because, despite full and sympathetic consideration of a number of proposals, it was found that even in the case of the least unattractive proposal the cost of the work would have been out of all proportion to the benefit to be derived. I regret that I cannot take any further action in the matter.
