Vol. 251 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bog Road Maintenance.

28.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission are responsible still for the repair and maintenance of roads serving bogs which were taken over by the Land Commission.

The Land Commission are concerned with roads only to the extent of the construction of new roads or the repair and improvement of existing roads on estates—including bogs—being divided and they regard future maintenance as a matter to be undertaken by the parties who use them. The Land Commission have no permanent organisation for the continuing upkeep of roads. It is, of course, open to the parties using the roads to apply to the county council for repair assistance.
