Vol. 251 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Achill Island School.

30.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Education if he will reconsider his decision regarding the closing of the national school at Dooega, Achill Island; and if he will make a statement regarding the reasons for the closure.

I have examined this matter and I am satisfied that the decision to close Dooega national school should be adhered to. An assessment of the Dooega area has made it clear that the future enrolments would be sufficient to maintain a one-teacher school only.
