Vol. 251 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford City Garda Station.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance when work will commence on the new Garda station in Waterford city; when it will be ready for occupation; if he will outline the general facilities it will have for the Garda staff, public and detained persons as well as for medical examinations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A contract for the erection of the new Garda station in Waterford City has been placed and it is expected that work will commence very soon. The building should be ready for occupation before the end of 1972.

The new station will provide modern offices and ancillary accommodation for all ranks of the Garda. A parade room, a mess room, a drying-room and a recreation room will also be provided.

For the public there will be a large general office and a number of separate interview rooms.

The building will contain cell accommodation for four persons and a special room for medical examinations.
