Vol. 251 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Estates.

93.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give an up-to-date list of estates yet remaining to be completed in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown in the form of a reply to Question Number 6 of 17th July, 1969; and the year in which these houses were completed.

No up-to-date information about the position regarding unfinished estates in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown is available in my Department.

The problem of unfinished estates is essentially a matter to be dealt with locally. As I explained in my reply to a question by Deputy P.J. Burke on 26th November, 1970, I feel that the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, went as far as possible in enabling planning authorities to apply enforcement powers to older estates developed on the basis of planning permissions granted before the 1963 Act came into operation. Where it has become clear that these enforcement powers are not going to provide a solution in certain cases, it is a matter for the planning authority concerned to take such other measures as are open to them to deal with the cases.

In regard to Question No. 94 the Deputy is prepared to take a written answer.

My answer, Sir, was drawn up to reply to Questions Nos. 94 and 95 together.

I will take them that way.

It is just as well, as this matter has been fixed up.
