Vol. 251 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Beef Subsidy Scheme.

42.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware that there appears to be an inordinate delay in paying grants under the Beef Subsidy Scheme; and if he will take steps to ensure that these are paid within a reasonable time after inspection.

There has been no delay in payment of grants under the beef cattle incentive scheme. Out of an estimated 51,000 eligible herdowners about 49,500 have already been paid. The remainder comprise cases in course of payment and cases which are still under investigation. If the Deputy wishes me to look into any individual cases I shall be glad to do so if he gives me the particulars.
