Vol. 251 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Commission Receivable Orders.

21.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will arrange to have the folio number shown on the receivable order being used by the Land Commission.

22.

asked the Minister for Lands the cost of the changeover from the ten year receivable order to the present system.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 21 and 22 together.

In connection with the substitution of a half-yearly demand for the ten year receivable order for payment of land annuity instalments, it was estimated that the overall increase in costs of the change-over might be in the region of £1,800—arising mainly from increases in the cost of stationery and postage. Due to the prolonged banks' closure, which had repercussions on the normal pattern of annuity payments, it has not been found possible as yet to make a precise evaluation of the cost of the new system.

The question of including the relevant folio numbers in future issues of the new half-yearly demands is at present under consideration. The omission of folio numbers from the demands already issued was due to technical difficulties in transferring these particulars to the magnetic tape files used in the computer.

Will the Minister ensure that the folio number will appear in future as it is a serious inconvenience when it is not included?

I will convey what the Deputy has said to the Minister.
