Vol. 251 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Teaching Experience Recognition.

30.

asked the Minister for Education if he will recognise experience gained in England for the purpose of giving salary increments to persons teaching in this country.

Teaching experience in England is not recognised at present for the purpose of increments to teachers in schools in this country, except in the case of (a) primary school teachers who have been trained in England and (b) male teachers of physical education who have been trained in England.

The question of the recognition of such service generally for increment purposes is under review by my Department and will be a matter for consideration under the scheme of conciliation and arbitration.
