asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the total amount of subsidies to agriculture in the latest statistics available; and if he will give a breakdown of such subsidies.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving details of estimated State expenditure in relation to agriculture for 1970-71 as published last year in the Budget Tables. The figures do not include the extra assistance for agriculture announced in the April, 1970 Budget or the further assistance announced on 13th October and 1st December, 1970. Taking account of these additional measures total expenditure will, it is estimated, be in the region of £95 million. Final figures will be published at the time of the next Budget.
