Vol. 251 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valuation Office Staff.

15.

asked the Minister for Finance what professional qualifications valuers employed in the Valuation Office have for the proper discharge of their functions.

Candidates for the position of valuer in the Valuation Office are required to hold a recognised university degree or equivalent qualification in one of the following:

Civil Engineering;

Architecture;

Agricultural Science (taken in General Agriculture);

Commerce;

Economics; or

to be corporate members, by examination, of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or of the Chartered Auctioneers and Estate Agents Institute.

I should like to inform the Minister that there is no such person as a qualified valuer in this country. The Minister should do something about this.

I am calling Question No. 16.
