Vol. 251 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Holdings.

18.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of County Waterford (1) the number of holdings in the possession of the Land Commission and as yet not subdivided; (2) when these holdings were acquired; (3) the area and description of each holding; (4) the number of applicants for each holding; (5) the number and identity of such holdings which have been and are the subject of a letting; and (6) when it is intended to subdivide each holding.

Replies to the various parts of the question take the form of a tabular statement which with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

NOTES: (1) It is not feasible to indicate when the individual Estates listed will be allotted. The necessary inquiries on the ground preliminary to allotment are being pushed forward as rapidly as circumstances permit. In the meantime all the properties mentioned are let pending final disposal.

(2) A record of the number of applications for land on each of the Estates listed is not readily available. In any event such a record might not, of itself, accurately reflect the number of really qualified claimants inasmuch as all eligible persons— irrespective of whether they have lodged a formal application or not—are automatically considered by the Land Commission for allotments.
