asked the Minister for Local Government if he has sanctioned the loan for the erection of 20 houses by Meath County Council at Slane; and, if not, when he intends to do so.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Houses.
A decision on Meath County Council's application for sanction to a loan for Slane housing scheme will be given shortly.
How long have the Department this proposal in hand?
Sin ceist eile. The Deputy did not ask that question. However, I will give him the information. Does he want it? Maybe he does not. A tender for the proposal, in the sum of £23,500, was sanctioned on 15th October, 1970, and the proposal for the loan was recommended to the Commissioners of Public Works after that date. The application was received in the Department on 28th September, 1970.
That is a considerable delay.
The normal procedure when I was looking after the matter was that there was no delay at all.
We all remember the time when the Deputy was in the Department of Finance and when there was no money at all.
Is it a technical or a financial problem?
Deputies may not continue on this line. I am calling Question No. 60.
