Vol. 251 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

63.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any proposals from Mayo County Council before his Department with a view to providing an Erris regional water supply scheme with Carramore lake as the source of supply.

Proposals for a regional water supply scheme to serve the Erris area were submitted to my Department by Mayo County Council. The council did not, however, accord the work a high rating on their priority list of sanitary services schemes. For this reason and because of the high estimated cost involved the question of releasing the scheme must be deferred until works regarded by the county council as being more urgently required have been approved.

64.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding proposals submitted by Mayo County Council for the provision of a new sewerage scheme at Bangor-Erris, County Mayo.

Contract documents for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. On the latest information available to me the local authority do not regard it as having a high priority in their water and sewerage programme.

65.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposed group water scheme at Pallas, Caltra, Ballinasloe, County Galway.

I assume the Deputy is referring to the group water supply scheme at Caltra/Castleblakeney. Galway County Council have been asked to make a contribution towards the cost of this scheme which is being dealt with in conjunction with a group scheme for the Ballymacward area.
