Vol. 252 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Post Office.

63.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when plans were submitted to him for the modernisation of the general post office, the Quay, Waterford city; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Improvements to the post office form part of a major scheme for extended telephone exchange accommodation and new offices for the staffs of the Revenue Commissioners in Waterford City which it was decided in principle some years ago should be undertaken. Sketch plans for the entire scheme as now visualised were submitted by the Office of Public Works to my Department in November last and are now under consideration.

Can the Minister indicate in what year it was agreed to make these improvements?

A number of years ago.

Since the second World War?

It was a number of years ago.

That is a very poor answer. Would the Minister communicate privately with me?

Yes, I will.
