Vol. 252 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Benefit Claim.

7.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why an insured person (name supplied) has not been paid unemployment benefit on a claim which was made five months ago.

The claim in question has been allowed and all unemployment benefit due was paid last week.

Title to payment depended on the number of employment contributions paid in the contribution year 1969. Although the local office of the Department of Labour received the relevant stamped insurance card, receipt of the card in the Department of Social Welfare has not been traced. The delay in deciding the claim arose from enquiries made to establish the number of stamps on the missing card. I regret the inordinate delay in clearing the claim and I am having this aspect of the case examined.
