Vol. 252 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Itinerants in Receipt of Unemployment Assistance.

8.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if any itinerants in County Cork are in receipt of unemployment assistance; and, if so, how many.

There are at present 103 itinerants in County Cork who are receiving unemployment assistance. There are also 10 applications from itinerants in the county in course of decision.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary say what happens these itinerants when they move to another area? Is there much difficulty or delay in their receiving a medical card from another health authority?

There should not be if they call in to the local authority.

The question of medical cards does not arise. This question deals with unemployment assistance only.
