Vol. 252 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Milk Price.

38.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he gave permission for a person or firm to retail milk in Dungarvan, County Waterford, at four and a half new pence per pint; and, if so, if he will make a statement on the matter.

The answer to the first part of the question is "No".

Not more than four new pence per pint should be charged in Dungarvan for bottled pastcurised milk. If the Deputy will let me have particulars of any overcharge made, I will have the matter investigated.

Is there any regulation in respect of the minimum price which one can charge for milk at retail stores?

No minimum price, no.

Are there any price inspectors in the area?

Whether there are or are not any price inspectors——

There are a number of price inspectors operating in different areas.

Would there be one investigating prices in Dungarvan?

Yes. They investigate in various parts of the country. If they get specific complaints they investigate them.
