asked the Minister for Education the number of candidates who sat for and passed the intermediate certificate examination in 1968 and the number of candidates who presented themselves for the leaving certificate examination in 1970.

The number of candidates who sat for the intermediate certificate examination in 1968 was 23,313 and 20,290 passed the examination. The number of candidates who presented themselves for the leaving certificate in 1970 was 18,975.
