Vol. 252 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers (Resumed). - Dún Laoghaire Gas Company Theatre.

23.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the continued operation of the Dún Laoghaire Gas Company Theatre, he will consider giving a small grant-in-aid to this theatre to enable it to overcome its current financial difficulties; and, if not, why.

While direct State aid is being given to the National Theatre Society and towards the renovation and running costs of the Gate Theatre I could not undertake to give direct aid to the Gas Company Theatre or any of the numerous small theatres which might find the financing of their operations difficult. An Comhairle Ealaíon may be in a position to help.
