Vol. 253 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork School.

47.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the erection of a primary school at Kinsale, County Cork.

48.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the new primary school for Kinsale, County Cork.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 47 and 48 together.

The manager has offered a one acre site for this proposed new school. Due to reorganisation of school accommodation in the district a much larger site will be required. This matter and other relevant matters are being dealt with in my Department at present and it is hoped to communicate with the manager at an early date.

Could the Minister say when he will finalise the matter? Will it be a few months?

The manager was anxious to know what the cost of the new school was likely to be and what proportion of this he would have to meet. This is being dealt with at the moment and we will send out a letter to him very shortly.

Very shortly?

Probably in a week or so. Of course, this is in relation to only one aspect.

Could the Minister say when it is likely to be finalised?

I could not say.
