Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Rural Electrification.

10.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state in respect of South-West Cork (a) the number of applications for ESB current at present on hands, (b) the number of applicants for whom supply will be provided during the year 1971 and (c) when it is expected to have the entire area supplied.

I am informed by the ESB that they do not keep statistics of the number of applications for connection in an area, since a recanvass has to be carried out before the post-development scheme for an area is designed. The board estimate that there are between 800 and 900 potential new consumers in South-West Cork. It is expected that supply will be extended to about 200 of these during 1971. The board plan to extend supply to the remainder over a four-year period ending in 1975.
