Vol. 253 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Hospital.

13.

asked the Minister for Health if it is proposed to close Saint Catherine's Hospital, Pigeon House Road, Dublin; and, if so, when.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a similar question on 13th May, 1970 in which I intimated that, pending the outcome of discussions on the proposed reorganisation of hospital services in South Dublin, as envisaged in the FitzGerald Report, it would not be possible to take a decision about the future of St. Catherine's Hospital. These discussions are still in progress and while considerable advances have been made on the general pattern of hospital services in South Dublin, it will be some considerable time yet before a decision could be reached on the future role, if any, which St. Catherine's Hospital might play in the hospital programme. In the meantime, the hospital will continue to be used for the accommodation of patients from the Meath Hospital.
