Vol. 254 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tramore Development Plan.

22.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what moneys have been allocated in the current financial year for the Tramore development plan; on what aspect of the plan the moneys will be spent; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The allocation of funds voted for the Major Resort Development Scheme is a matter for Bord Fáilte.

I am informed by Bord Fáilte that in the current financial year a sum of £25,000 has been earmarked in respect of Tramore for works under the Major Resort Development Scheme. Precise details of the works to be undertaken have not yet been settled between the board and Tramore Fáilte Limited but generally the money will be used to provide additional facilities and amenities for visitors to the resort.

Is this figure of £25,000 up or down on the last financial year?

It is down a little on the last financial year.

By how much?

The figure was £46,000 last year.

That is a substantial reduction.

Resort development is being staged because the sums involved in resort development and the number of resorts involved are quite substantial.

Are the other resorts receiving less money this year than they did last year?
