Vol. 254 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cavan Old Age Pensioner.

27.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will explain why an allowance of £2.75 per week has been refused to an old age pensioner (details supplied) in County Cavan in respect of the daughter (name supplied) of her adopted son (name supplied) who was reared from infancy by the applicant and her husband.

The allowance in question is payable only in respect of prescribed female relatives of the pensioner. The person concerned in this case does not fall into any of the prescribed categories and the allowance had therefore to be refused. The decision was upheld on appeal.
