Vol. 254 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Coast Erosion.

44.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that coast erosion at the Burrow, Portrane, County Dublin, is eating away acres of land each winter; and that a number of houses are consequently being threatened; and what action he proposes to take in the matter.

No proposal under the Coast Protection Act, 1963, for coast protection works at the Burrow, Portrane, has been received from the local authority.

What will Deputy Burke say now to the people of Portrane whom he has been codding for some considerable time by telling them that the Parliamentary Secretary would build a wall against the sea in this area?

In May, 1970, Deputy Burke was advised in correspondence of the procedure to be adopted by the county council in initiating coast protection proposals. The next step lies with the county council.
