Vol. 366 No. 6

Written Answers - Land Registration Application.

87.

asked the Minister for Justice if, as it is now one year since a dealing with the Land Registry (details supplied) was lodged, arrangements can be made in the Land Registry to conclude this dealing without further delay in view of the requirements of the application.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application for registration of a vesting certificate under the ground rents purchase scheme which was originally lodged in the Land Registry on 4 June 1985. It was rejected on 26 June and relodged on 5 July 1985. As I have indicated to the House on a number of occasions there is at present a large volume of arrears in the Registry. Normally no urgency attaches to applications for registration of vesting certificates but, as I have also indicated previously, the Registry gives priority to applications in respect of which it is brought to its attention that there are special grounds for urgency, such as bridging finance for example. No such case has been made to the Registry in this instance. I am informed that in the normal course it is unlikely that the registration in question will be finalised before next September.
